In reporting suicide of MWAA former chairman Charles Snelling we exaggerated his early Dulles Toll Road/Rail role (CLARIFICATION)

The decision by MWAA to expand beyond its congressionally authorized charter to operate National and Dulles International Airports and get into the toll road and suburban rail transit business was made in late 2005 when Mary 'Mame' Reiley was MWAA Chairman and Tim Kaine a fellow Democrat, was Virginia Governor. Snelling a Republican was just a board member, but by all accounts he fully supported the MWAA move to take over the toll road.
