2012-05-15: Michigan state officials celebrated today opening of a two lane truck road that provides a route inside the plaza area that allows trucks from Canada using the Ambassador Bridge to get onto the I-75 interstate without using local streets. Traffic engineers tend to call such routes direct connectors, but this one is anything but direct.

Following last week's ruling by county judge Prentis Edwards Michigan DOT is moving to find a design-build contractor to complete work within the bridge company plaza area. The work which the private bridge company estimated to cost it $6m has been costed at $16m using the state's procurement procedures.
