2013-04-03: March 28 North East Texas RMA and TxDOT opened an important 10.2 mile, 16.5km stretch of their Toll 49 loop on the westside of Tyler providing the first link to the interstates - to I-20.  Called Segment 3B the new stretch provides a straight shot off the interstate to the southern part of the Tyler area.

2013-04-01: The 130 tollroad down the east side of the 1.87m pop Austin TX metro area is seeing strong growth in traffic and revenues. In the first two months of the year traffic on the 49 mile, 79km TxDOT portion (segments 1 thru 4) is up 20% over last year despite higher toll rates.

2013-03-28: Operators of the 130 tollroad down the east side of the Austin TX metro area are trying to attract trucks, and they are offering promotional toll rates for a year. The big 18-wheelers and others will only be charged car rates. There have previously been month-long discounts like this.  They worked but a TxDOT person told us they think the deep discounting for a longer period will work bette.

Cintra, Meridiam and Dallas cops and firemen's pension system through their joint venture NTE Mobility Partners Segments 3 LLC have done the commercial close with TxDOT on the $1.38 billion project to design, build, finance, operate, maintain and toll an extension of the North Tarrant Express in Fort Worth TX.
 
The 10-mile project includes segments:

- 3A of 6.5 miles along I-35W from Fort Worth to I-820, with the interchange between I-35W and I-820; and

- 3B 3.6 miles from the interchange with I-820 to US287.
 

2013-03-05: Tollways are now being developed on several approaches to Austin Bergstrom Airport. TxDOT has said it will sponsor a short 2 mile tollway outside the Airport in the median of Texas State Highway 71 (TX71) to complete expressway standard connections to the 130 tollroad.

2013-03-01: TxDOT will negotiating with Xerox a contract for toll plaza and customer service center operations. The department got authority from the state Transportation Commission (TTC) at their latest meeting when the TxDOT ranking of proposers was announced and Xerox was rated "best value."

2013-02-28: Third lanes are being added to 2x2 lanes of the Loop 375 Border Highway in El Paso Texas, and the toll systems are getting under way.  The project is on 8.9 miles between US54 and just west of Zaragoza Road (identified on CRRMA maps as Project 12.)  It is located right along the Rio Grand river that forms the Mexican border. It is  a major southside bypass of the southern metro area and alternate to I-10.

Clayton Howe is leaving NTTA Operations and chairmanship of Texas Interoperability (IOP) Task Force to join Atkins. He was the senior officer in Operations at NTTA from 2009 until the previously vacant position of deputy executive director and chief operating officer was filled in October last year by John Carreker - a specialist in new payments methodologies from outside the toll business.

2013-02-15: Officials in Texas and Oklahoma say their electronic toll systems could be interoperable in 2014. Chairman of the Team Texas Interoperability Committee Clayton Howe says the exact timing will be up to Oklahoma to decide but indications are it could be up and running by the end of the year.

2012/12/16: An Archer Western, Granite, Lane team (AGL Constructors) has been chosen for an initial contract for what will eventually be a $4.8 billion 28 mile, 45km rebuild of TX/I-35E adding general purpose and toll express or 'managed' lanes to the freeway. The initial contract is for $1.1b.
