MissDOT's Butch misbehaves at AASHTO, attracts Fed reprimand


Penn Pike bigwigs aren't the only ones to get into trouble with the booze. Local reports say AASHTO president and chief executive at Mississippi DOT, Lawrence Brown - who apparently goes by the first names Larry and Butch, take your pick - has been involved in two drunkenness incidents this year. Back in July he was arrested and charged with "public intoxication" and "disorderly conduct."

Washington state going with Sirit and a new family of 6C tags


Washington State DOT say they are going with a new family of ISO 18000 6C transponders from Federal Signal/Sirit (FS/S) at the front end of their "Good To Go!" brand electronic tolling. They are presently using eGo Plus sticker tags from TransCore - a proprietary development of the previous generation ISO 18000 6B system.

North Carolina Turnpike Authority reduced to legal shell - staff integrated into NCDOT


North Carolina Turnpike Authority (NCTA) has been subsumed into the state department of transportation. As of this month its staff have been dispersed across the state department of transportation, all answerable to different NCDOT chiefs. David Joyner executive director has lost all his staff except an assistant, we hear.

Washington DOT contract with ETC for statewide customer service center


Washington state Department of Transportation (WsDOT) say they have finalized the contract with Electronic Transaction Consultants (ETC) of Dallas TX to establish a new customer service center for tolling statewide.

Florida DOT restarting concession procurement for Jacksonville Outer Belt


Florida DOT is restarting the procurement of a toll concession to build and operate the Jacksonville First Coast Outer Beltway. This week they lodged a notice withdrawing the first procurement which was delayed about a year while the state obtained legislation exempting concessionaires from property tax.
