Ex-chief Paul Violette hit with racketeering lawsuit from his Maine Turnpike - over half million $s sought

Former chief executive (CEO) of the Maine Turnpike Authority Paul E Violette was today hit with a lawsuit demanding repayment of about half a million dollars it alleges that he cost them in alleged fraud and abuse between 2003 and 2011. Violette, a former Democrat Party politician was CEO at the state Turnpike from 1988 until March this year when he was forced to resign by a scandal unearthed by a legislative oversight agency.
Penn Pike superintendent charged with seven thieveries
Posted on Fri, 2011-06-10 08:36Ronald Kozlowski a tradesman maintenance superintendent in the Pennsylvania Turnpike District 5 on the southern part of the I-476 NE Extension was charged Thursday with seven counts involving misappropriation of goods and services. Kozlowski's stealing was documented by the Turnpike's internal Inspector General's office, spokesman Carl de Febo is saying, and he was fired by the Turnpike.
The evidence was then passed the state attorney general's office which filed the criminal charges.

A story broken by the Newark Star Ledger this evening reports drama at the New Jersey Turnpike as three thieving toll collectors were arrested Tuesday night for a scam in which they substituted short-trip ticket stubs for longer trip tickets, pocketing the difference in tolls. Arrested on the job by state police and now without jobs are:
- William Fagan, 62 of Clementon
- Glen Huryan, 55, of Magnolia

The AP is reporting that Massachusetts state police are charging ten current and former toll collectors of the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority with theft of tolls. A Suffolk District Attorney is quoted as saying that the charges are the result of a seven month long investigation. The toll collectors were taking anything between $20 and $150 per shift.
NJ GSP plaza super gets three years for theft of $11k coins from ACMs
Posted on Sat, 2008-04-26 10:23Joseph Fischbach, a toll plaza superintendent on the southern part of the Garden State Parkway has been sentenced to three years in jail after pleading
guilty to stealing over $11k in tolls.
A judge in state superior court also ordered Fischbach to repay the money he stole.
He was arrested in May 2007 after an investigation established he was regularly taking coins from the coin vaults of automatic coin machines.

Toll collector arrested for 'grand theft' on Florida Turnpike

A toll collector was arrested for stealing tolls yesterday at the Leesburg mainline plaza in Lake County Florida. Seerajn Dhoray, 58, an employee of Faneuil Group, toll collection contractor to Florida's Turnpike, was charged with "grand theft" (see comment below) following two weeks in which his thievery was observed.
