Similar roads can vary enormously in cost. A striking example is Maryland's Inter County Connector (MDICC) and Texas' 121 Sam
Rayburn Tollway (TX121SRT). They have a lot in common. They are both 3+3 mainline lanes, they are roughly comparable length (18.8 miles vs 26 miles, 30km vs 42km).

Motorists traveling west on the Sam Rayburn Tollway TX121 and wanting to go south on US75/Central Expressway have a splendid new direct
connector ramp that allows them to a gentle left turn without the need to slow. The North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) opened the ramp Saturday Mar 12 about 7pm.

The Sam Rayburn Tollway (TX121) is nearing completion with the opening of main toll lanes and four more ramps near the far northeast end, and work well advanced there on the last soaring ramp movements at the big interchange with US75. The interchange ramps at US75 are due to open in January 2011.

North Texas Tollway Authority have fired an employee who police determined was responsible for a spectacular crash and fire on the Sam Rayburn Tollway (TX121) April 8.

The much fought-over State Highway 121 tollroad is being formally renamed in a ceremony next week the Sam Rayburn Tollway. That will be the second major toll authority facility in the United States named after a famous speaker of the US House of Representatives, the first having been Thomas 'Tip' O'Neill (1912-1994).
