Day after day, week after week, the battle of the Detroit River bridges goes on. The arguments for and against a downstream rival PPP toll bridge are constant news in Detroit and Windsor, sustaining an expenditure of time, money and passion unmatched by any other transportation controversy in the country. No other argument over a toll project we know of anywhere produces as much news. And it just goes on and on, without any apparent resolution.

A new Detroit Windsor toll bridge has got its final permits from the US Government, marking a further important step toward improving connectivity in the most important US-Canadian trade route. The new bridge planned about two miles (3.2km) downstream of the Ambassador Bridge including some 15km (9 miles) of road would provide a high quality direct connection between I-75 in Michigan and H401 in Ontario.
