2013-11-08: Illinois DOT has issued the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the procurement of a P3 team to “design, build, finance, operate and maintain” the 35 mile, 57km Illinois portion of the Illiana Expressway project. Indiana Finance Authority is expected to issue its RFQ shortly for the 12 miles, 19km of the expressway in Indiana as the beginning of the procurement of a companion P3.
2013-09-25: Indiana and Illinois departments of transportation (DOTs) will each take sole charge of that portion of the proposed Illiana Expressway within their territory. Each state will do separate procurements of public private partnerships (P3s) to get the toll expressway built. Requests for Qualifications will be issued this fall.
Indiana DOT says there will be two separate toll concessions to conform with the legal framework of each state.
Washington State DOT is advertising a Request for Qualification (RFQ) from marketing and advertising firms to "provide statewide toll educational marketing services." They say they are looking for a firm to provide "marketing expertise in support of a public outreach campaign that includes $2.3 million in educational marketing for I-405 express toll lanes."
They add there is a possibility of more work as other toll facilities come online in 2015 and 2016.
Michigan DOT has begun procurement of contractors to go onto the property of the Ambassador Bridge Company to do demolition, relocation and reconstruction to the order of the county judge in the latest chapter of the long running contract dispute over the Gateway project.
