CS signs $18m toll system contract with BC gov toiler for Mt Mann Hwy 1 AET


France-based CS Group has signed a C$19m (US$18m) contract to provide an all-electronic toll (AET) system for the Port Mann bridge/Highway 1 (PMH1) project in Vancouver, British Columbia.

California's old Title 21 electronic toll (ET) system spec written nearly 20 years ago by engineers at Hughes - long since departed ET - has life still. It is a requirement in the toll system RFP for the big new Port Mann toll bridge to carry Canada's Highway 1 over the Fraser River 24km (15 miles) east of Vancouver.

Tolls on the Coquihalla Highway, the only operating tollroad in British Columbia, Canada were suddenly ended by the premier Gordon Campbell at 1pm (13:00) Sept 26 and demolition of the single mainline plaza is already under way as we write.
