Penn Pike workers beat Teamsters and Pike in US Court


Seven Pennsylvania Turnpike non-union workers today won a court case against the Teamsters Union and the Turnpike Commission in Pittsburgh. US District Court judge Nora Fischer reaffirmed an earlier injunction against the Turnpike Commission ordering them not to seize money from the workers' paychecks on behalf of Teamsters Local 250, saying the union was not entitled to the money.

Labor relations boss says Penn Pike fired him for refusing to bow to Teamsters


Conspiracy, corruption and other malpractice is alleged at the Pennsylvania Turnpike by a former manager of labor relations Donald Kovac in a wrongful dismissal complaint filed in US District Court in Pittsburgh. Kovac says he was fired on the orders of chief operating officer George Hatalowich after he refused to reinstate a toll collector who had assaulted a motorist.

Teamsters protest Mass Turnpike's "unjust" suspension of murder indictee toll collector


The Boston Herald reports that Local 127 Teamsters union representing toll collectors in Massachusetts has protested as "unjust" the suspension by the Turnpike of toll collector Paul Moccia charged in court this week with a grisly drug murder.

Indiana toll collectors reject concession company offer


Toll collectors this week rejected a "best and final offer" by the Indiana Toll Road Concession Company (ITRCC) in the first labor dispute over pay and conditions. About 60% of the 230 collectors voted.

The toll collectors have been represented by four locals of the Teamsters union since it won a cliffhanger vote (108 to 103) on taking the tollroad union last December.

Maintenance workers for the ITRCC rejected unionization.
