Jackson MS Airport Parkway toll concession delayed but official optimistic


Mississippi DOT's procurement of a toll concessionaire to build a new Airport Parkway tollroad for the state capital of Jackson is delayed several months by the world financial crisis. But the official leading the process is optimistic it will proceed. A final Request for Proposals was issued March 12 and there's now a June 15 deadline for proposals.

Mississippi DOT has invited all three groups who submitted qualifications to proceed to make proposals for the concession contract for the Airport Parkway project in the state capital Jackson.

The three are each led by large Spain-based international tollroad development groups:

1) the Jackson Access Mobility Group composed of Dragados and ACS

2) the Airport Parkway P3 Group composed of Cintra and Ferrovial

Three groups have submitted their statements of qualifications by the deadline Friday Aug 1, the first step in the award of a toll concession to build the Airport Parkway in Jackson Mississippi. The three are each led by large Spain-based international tollroad development groups:

1) the Jackson Access Mobility Group composed of Dragados USA, HNTB, Eutaw, Key and APAC

Brenda Znachko, chief financial officer and deputy exec-director at Mississippi DOT says the Jackson Airport Parkway is a financially "strong" project. She says a traffic and revenue study by URS is being finalized, and will be released at an industry workshop, compulsory for bidders, in Jackson July 1.

RFQ's will be due August 1.

Jackson Mississippi Airport Parkway - call for toll concession developer


Mississippi DOT is looking for investor groups to develop a new highspeed toll link between downtown Jackson and the Airport - 20km (12 miles) of expressway including a major new bridge over the Pearl River. The project which goes back nearly two decades has also been known as the Airport Parkway and MS25 Connectors because a lot of the expected traffic will come from north and east of the Airport - Flowood, Perl, Brandon and the Ross Barnette lake.
