Tampa Expressway Authority chief exec Joe Waggoner says all-electronic toll (AET) collection is "going well." They ended cash collection at the Tampa Hillsborough County's Selmon Expressway Sept 17 last year and now have the familiar AET combination of transponder tolls and license plate image based billing.

A consultant's report says conversion of the Maine Turnpike to all-electronic tolling (AET) would have an upfront cost of around $40m but produce annual savings of around $15m, paying for itself in less than three years, while putting the toller on a sounder financial footing.

A study commissioned by the town of York in south Maine argues that all-electronic toll (AET) collection is both the most cost-effective and the most environmentally friendly solution to the longstanding dispute over a new 'gateway toll plaza' on the south end of the Maine Turnpike.
