Georgia generated shock waves in infrastructure investment circles with an announcement  last night that it was canceling the managed or toll lanes procurement for GA/I-75 and I-575 to the northwest of Atlanta. The project had seemed to be well past the point of no return.

To the great relief of major toll agencies who were potentially on the hook for billions of $s of unproductive debt, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie today reaffirmed his cancellation of the $11b to $14b project.

Indiana's Governor Mitch Daniels has dropped plans for most of two tollroads he announced last Nov 9. He said in a letter to legislators that there wasn't the necessary public support and suggested some further research, but no further action for now except on a segment near the Illinois border.
