Federal Signal/Sirit sued for 6C sticker tag patent infringements by Neology


Federal Signal and its Sirit unit have been sued in US District Court by Neology over six alleged breaches of Neology 6C patents. The lawsuit was filed today in the US court in Delaware where both companies are registered.

The lawsuit demands that Federal Signal and related companies such as its subsidiary Sirit cease manufacturing, marketing and selling the ISO 18000 6C protocol RFID tags, readers and systems.

TransCore alleged in their suit that ETC improperly used methodologies they owned through patents for open road tolling with the IAG's Mark IV transponders and readers.

IBM working on statement on controversial variable rate toll patent


IBM is working to get agreement internally on a formal statement on a controversial "Variable rate toll system" patent that the company gained from the US Patent Office January 22. An official says that getting the patent was not part of any corporate strategy to "corner the market" on road pricing as others are alleging.
