New Potomac toll bridge being discussed - to link Montgomery Co MD, Fairfax Co VA

The governors of Maryland and Virginia are discussing the revival of an old but good project to link Fairfax County Virginia and Montgomery County Maryland with a new crossing of the Potomac River some 10 to 15 miles, 16km to 22km upstream of the Capital Beltway's crowded American Legion Bridge.

Jacksonville Florida's Outer Beltway project is being revived. Legislation has just been passed clarifying uncertainties in the state's tax treatment of toll concessions, and Governor Crist is expected to sign it any day. Florida DOT have put the Jacksonville outer beltway concession procurement on hold, they've announced. FDOT District 2 secretary Charles Baldwin says state lawyers told him yesterday morning they were no longer sure that he could tell bidders on the First Coast Outer Beltway concession that they would be exempt from property tax.
