Completion of the blocked 241 tollroad of Orange County California looks just a little closer following an okay from the City of
San Juan Capistrano in the path of the planned final leg to I-5.

The California 241 Toll Road in Orange Co will remain closed at least through Wednesday Dec 29 in the section from the 133 Toll Road junction to Santiago Canyon Rd. The pike was closed by mudslides in the Loma Ridge section Dec 22 after nearly a week of heavy rains.

Mudslides Wednesday morning (12/22) on the 241 Toll Road have required the closure of the pike in both directions between the 133TR and the Santiago Canyon Road - close to 261TR (see map below.) This is a central section of the inland tollroad formally named the Foothill/Eastern Toll Road, and located in Orange County southeast of Los Angeles (LA).

an unscrupulous and noisy campaign of opposition, magnified by an antagonistic Los Angeles Times and other local media. In southern Orange County where the tollroad will be built a survey of 757 voters shows 58% support completion while 31% oppose with 10% undecided.

The Transportation Corridor Agencies (TCA) have filed an appeal with the US Secretary of Commerce asking the US Government to overrule an attempt by the extreme environmentalist California Coastal Commission (CCC) to block completion of their CA241 Foothill Toll Road in San Clemente, between Los Angeles and San Diego. The CCC comprises mostly leftists opposed to road construction who think government should "get people out of cars". They voted Feb 6 against the tollroad 8 to 2.
