Donald Shoup on pricing parking - ReasonTV


Reason's website has a great YouTube interview with Donald Shoup of UCLA.

With a self-mocking one-liner Shoup says: "I'm out to save the world one parking space at a time."

He's been researching parking,  and reporting on it, driven by a conviction that it needs to be priced flexibly so markets clear - much the same way many of us feel passionately about the need for proper pricing of road use.

City of Chicago adds longterm concessions for city parking to Midway Airport, Skyway


The City of Chicago will reveive an upfront fee of $1,157m for a 75 year concession with a Morgan Stanley (MS) subsidiary for the rights to profits from 36,000 street parking meters. Higher parking fees will be phased in over 5 years. After that fee increases will be subject to City approval.
