A single open road toll (ORT) lane on I-80 at the Delaware Water Gap bridge toll point is consistently carrying more traffic than five conventional toll lanes alongside, Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission reports. Traffic has been steaming through the leftside ORT lane at about 2,000 vehicles per hour (1.8 seconds per vehicle) during weekday peak periods, whereas the conventional toll lanes tend to back up when traffic goes above about 400

Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission (DRJTBC) have dedicated a $200,000 boat ramp constructed as part of repairs to the nearby Washington Crossing Toll Supported Bridge. A ramp was helpful to the bridgeworks, but in discussion with local groups it developed into being constructed to be a permanent facility.

A traffic and revenue report puts potential toll revenues on the proposed new Scudder Falls bridge near Trenton NJ - the subject of a P3 or private concession procurement - in the range of $22m and $35m/year. If operating costs are a quarter to a third of this then net revenues would be $16m to $24m/year. That's a 5% to 8% return on investment. Little growth is projected.
Delaware River I-78 ORT to open soon

Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission (DRJTBC) will open their first open road toll (ORT) point next week, perhaps as early as Tuesday May 11. This is at the I-78 bridge over the Delaware River, the busiest of seven toll bridges operated by DRJTBC between New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Tolling is westbound only and the new facility provides two open road or Express E-ZPass toll lanes and four cash lanes.
Stantec get design work for Betsy Ross ORT

Delaware River Port Authority are hiring Stantec to do design work on the open road toll lanes being done on the Betsy Ross toll bridge. They say they hope to the ORT lanes, being branded Express E-ZPass in operation in 2011. They hope it can be copied at the Commodore Barry Bridge.

US-1 at the Delaware River near downtown Trenton NJ has a new toll plaza. The $6m project is part of a larger $100m+ rehabbing
of the Trenton-Morrisville Bridge which is the major link between the New Jersey capital and Philadelphia. And pre-NJ Turnpike US1 was the main route Boston-NYC-Philadelphia-Baltimore Wash DC.
$20.6m terrorist surveillance system contracted for Delaware River bridges NJ-PA

The upper Delaware River bridges between New Jersey and Pennsylvania are getting a $20.6m detection and surveillance system to protect them against attack and natural disasters like floods, and to improve response to incidents. The security system includes video surveillance, intelligent video, building access control and intrusion detection, a central control center, and communications systems for video, data, and voice transmissions.
