Washington state Department of Transportation (WsDOT) say they have finalized
the contract with Electronic Transaction Consultants (ETC) of Dallas TX to establish a new customer service center for tolling statewide.

North Carolina Turnpike Authority now envisage making their choice of tag/reader system mid-January, three months later than anticipated. Jim Eden chief operating officer says the procurement - formally "Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) Technology" - is the most difficult and far-reaching, and that they need time to get the decision right.

penetration has increased hugely to 75% of transactions - as of the first week of Sept 2008. (The US rate is below 70% - Editor) This is especially amazing since Japan was so far behind the US in implementation of ET (2001 on vs 1989 to 2000 for most US tollers.)
