West Virginia's US-35 tollroad project moved ahead this week with signing of memorandum of understanding between the state Turnpike authority and the state department of transportation (WVDOT) that details the roles and responsibilities of each.

A bill is going through the legislature in Oklahoma to add a 20km, 12 mile Gilcrease Expressway western extension in Tulsa to the list of tollroads the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority is authorized to construct.

A route has been selected for a Gaston East-West Connector, a tollroad planned on the western edge of the greater Charlotte NC area. This is an important step toward completing environmental and planning clearances. The road is also known as Garden Parkway.

State Highway 45 Southeast tollroad (TR) opened today May 7, the fifth pike in the Austin Texas metro area. A 12km (7.5 mile) 4-lane expressway it provides improved east-west connectivity in the southern part of the Texas' capital area, as well as being the final leg, in combination with SH130 tollroad, of an eastern bypass or half-belt route on the eastside of the 1m pop metro area.

Governor Schwarzenegger this week signed a law giving toll financing powers to a local association of governments for an $800m project to build a third US-Mexico border crossing in the San Diego/Tijuana area. The new border crossing or 'port of entry' (POE) called East Otay Mesa is to be a bit over 3km (2 miles) east of the existing Otay Mesa crossing.

North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) are breaking ground on the farthest east portion of the President George Bush Turnpike (PGBT) Thursday Aug 21 in a ceremony for local bigwigs wielding bright shovels and silly looking hardhats over suits. At least it is scheduled for a sensible 9am before the fierce Texas summer sun rises too high in the sky.

North Carolina Turnpike Authority have received bids totaling $584m for design-build of  the three-part Triangle Expressway project in the western part of Raleigh. That's well within preliminary cost estimates of around $645m. The Triangle Expressway work consists of:
