TransCore wins big Texas Turnpike system integration and maintenance contract

TransCore has won a big statewide systems integration and maintenance contract with the Texas Turnpike division of TxDOT. TransCore was selected over Raytheon and Telvent. The work was previously done largely by different companies, TransCore already being the largest - about 135 out of 155 lanes (CORRECTION).

From TxDOT: "Today, the Texas Transportation Commission approved a measure to select the best value proposal from qualified vendors interested in providing maintenance of equipment and systems utilized in the collection of tolls on current and future projects throughout the state"

They say the overall goal is to "streamline the integration and maintenance of those systems associated with toll collection."

They hope to reduce monthly maintenance costs of the existing lane equipment by 40 percent.

Of the choice they say: "After many months of careful consideration, TransCore emerged as the best value proposal. Moving forward, the Commission has directed the department to commence and complete negotiations with TransCore as necessary to finalize the agreement."
