MEMO Diane G-S: Take no notice of that Samuel guy and his offensive comments recently about the Turnpike's venerable 'trailblazer' sign. see http://www.tollroadsnews.com/node/4534 We have it on good authority that TOLLROADSnews email Inbox was filled this week with messages from affronted patrons telling him he's wrong. The people out there love that sign, Diane. Samuel is quite out of sync with public opinion. JO CoS

COMMENT: Mr Orlando is correct. They love that sign. He may have exaggerated slightly the volume of emails we received, but it is true they favor the sign.

We still think the thing's a dog's breakfast of funny sized fonts and letters out of order.

What you first see is NTPJ. For what? New Turn Pike Jersey? True the N and the J are wimpy little condensed letters.

And the word TURNPIKE written across the bold TP is in such a small font you can only read it when you're almost on top of the sign.

But however relentless our logic we have to report this is a minority view, possibly a minority of one in millions.

And we do concede a risk in our suggestion of a competition for a new logo. It might come up with a worse one - editor
