The Toll Roads Views - not a sendup but a new publication of SoCal TCA
When we first glanced at this we flattered ourselves it was a send-up of TOLLROADSnews. Occasionally we are open to the charge that we are as much views as news!
But we faked the title bar on the left. A full grab gives you The Toll Roads VIEWSLETTER, A Publication of the Transportation Corridors Agencies (see below left). It's the first edition of a nicely produced 2 page pdf
newsletter for patrons.
The first issue has small pieces on:
- improved cellular wireless service on the 241 tollroad, TCA having collaborated with a cell phone company to add four new towers to improve reception
- a photo contest to get nice pictures of The Toll Roads (No word on the prize, a free sub to the VIEWSLETTER?)
- rewards to frequent users that allow them discounted tickets to four Anaheim Ducks games (don't ask us who the Ducks are, but we guess they are some kind of sport of great importance to locals)
- an update on 4th laning on sections of the 73 as they now call the San Joaquin Toll Road, and on third laning of the 241 as they now call the Foothill/Eastern TR
- a personal note on a design manager hired after spending some years in Rwanda, Africa
- "outreach" on the stalled project to complete the 241 to I-5 including some 80 meetings to date

ADDITION: sports are not our strong suit, but a reader has informed us the Ducks are a hockey team, and that they won a cup in 2007. They have our belated congratulations. TOLLROADSnews 2009-09-03
