Florida DOT is giving bidders for the Alligator Alley (I-75) toll concession an extra ten days. Bidders have told FDOT they need more
time beyond the latest May 8 bid deadline in order to put borrowings in place.
New deadline for bids is May 18.
Alligator Alley is a 125km (78 mile) stretch of I-75 which provides the only expressway standard highway link between the east and west coasts of south Florida. It goes through the Everglades and links the Miami-Ft Lauderdale metro area to Naples and Gulf coast locations and provides the most direct route for Miami area residents to Tampa and the panhandle.
Presently operated by FDOT it has one-direction tolling mainline toll plazas at each end.
