Sal Yacoubi to be president of Kapsch South Africa (PERSONNEL)
Salahdin Yacoubi has been appointed president of the Kapsch group subsidiary in South Africa. Yacoubi has been a leading figure in managing two of the world's first three implementations of all electronic tolling - Melbourne CityLink in Australia and Autopista Central in Santiago Chile. (The other was 407ETR in
Toronto Canada.)
Yacoubi had planned to move to Texas but opportunities there turned thin compared to elsewhere.
South Africa has a procurement out for design/build/operation of a nationwide open road toll
system and it seems likely Yacoubi will lead the Kapsch bid.
Kapsch has its head offices in Austria but its main toll
systems group Kapsch TrafficCom is based in Sweden and traces its origins back to Philips and Saab. It is a major force in toll systems in Europe, Australia, Asia, and South America.
