Mainstream media soft on a wretched crook (OFF TOPIC - MEDIA)
Washington Post, New York Times, almost all the mainstream media are wimps when it comes to writing about a crook, at least one who moved in elite circles. Consider their treatment of the
biggest scamster and most despicable thief of the past several decades - Bernard Madoff of the tony upper westside of New York City.
They constantly refer to Madoff's "alleged" Ponzi scheme (see Washington Post today nearby). Alleged!?!
This guy announced to his sons that his operation was a Ponzi scheme, and that the game was up.
It was on the basis of Madoff's own admission of guilt that they called the cops.
Subsequently Madoff hasn't made any denial of the charges, nor has anyone made any denial on his behalf.
After spending weeks examining his accounts the receiver has said he made none of the investments claimed in financial statements to clients. His whole operation was a gigantic fraud from beginning to end.
The qualifying adjective 'alleged' before "Ponzi scheme' is therefore totally unwarranted, and serves only to sow seeds of doubt about the culpability of this wretched man, when there is not the slightest basis for doubt.
