USDOT highway economist job on, off, now on again (PERSONNEL)

An economist position at FHWA was on, then off, and is now on again, hopefully a course the US economy will track. The economist position is in the Highway Needs and Investment Analysis and is to provide a replacement for Darren Timothy.

Ross Crichton, team leader emails: "I am seeking an individual with the ability to help guide the ongoing development of the Highway Economic Requirements System (HERS) and to develop analyses of future investment/performance relationships for inclusion in the biennial “Status of the Nation’s Highways, Bridges and Transit:  Conditions and Performance” report to Congress (C&P report).

"Strong writing ability is a definite plus (and the long answer questions on the application provide an opportunity to demonstrate such ability)."

Critchton says they previously advertised the position, and attracted some promising applicants but were not able to fill the position before a hiring freeze was imposed.

Now the freeze is in thaw, so they are restarting the recruitment.

The position is GS14.
