Businesspeople appointed to New Orleans Expressway, TCA ops chief

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal has nominated two businessmen to the board of the Greater New Orleans Expressway Commission that operates the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, the 39km (24 mile) pier style 2+2 lane bridge over the tidal Lake that links New Orleans directly to the north.

(Normally a 'causeway' is on fill. Maybe English is a second language in these parts.)

The two new GNOEC commissioners are:

- Larry Katz a local restaurant chain owner of Metairie

- James Ravannack also of Metairie, CEO of Compliance Technology

They are subject to state Senate confirmation.

TCA gets transit ops guy

Transportation Corridors Agencies (TCA) that operate The Toll Roads (San Joaquin Hills and Foothill/Eastern) in Orange County California are getting James T Gallagher as their new Chief Toll Operators Officer.

Gallagher's appointment was announced by Thomas Margro, CEO of the TCA.

The transit gang are infiltrating tollroads! Both are bus & train men, Gallagher, having worked at MTA in Houston, MTA in Washington DC and BART in San Francisco, according to Margro's email to TCA employees.

Actually there's no MTA in Washington DC. There's a WMATA. The MTA is 35 miles up the road in Baltimore. And the Houston transit outfit is usually known as METRO. Margro got BART right anyway.

A few more transit guys at TCA and they'll be planting rail lines in the median and renaming The Toll Roads of Orange County "The Fare Roads."
