Talk that Macquarie has dropped out of bidding for Penn Pike

There's talk that Macquarie is not in the bidding for the lease concession on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Two sources have said TOLLROADSnews was wrong in including Macquarie among the active bidders.

So far as we can establish we are right. We're assured Macquarie is still in, though no one is talking for attribution.

Also Governor Rendell at the news conference today specifically mentioned Macquarie as one of the bidders saying like the other overseas headquartered groups they had considerable American participation.

If they'd dropped out surely the Governor wouldn't have cited them as a bidder and used them as an example. Unless he got them mixed up with the other Australia-based bidder Transurban, which has a US investment subsidiary DRIVe...
