Jerry Brown "tried hard" not to build roads

“I tried hard not to build freeways, but we built three times more than (Republican successors Pete) Wilson and (George) Deukmejian combined. Even without trying, we did more than those idiots,” said Jerry Brown at the state Democratic Party convention in San Jose.

Brown who was the immediate post-Hippie era governor of the state 1975 to 1983, then Oakland mayor, is currently the state's elected Attorney-General.

"They didn’t call me Moonbeam for nothing. I worked hard to get that (moniker)," he told the audience of Dems.

Reflecting on his current job he is quoted in the LA Times "Top of the Ticket" column:

"I don’t do much these days except sue people. But maybe... I’ll get around to doing more than that, and maybe you’ll help me."

"Doing more than that" is Brown's code-word for running for Governor again in 2010, the LA Times says.

If he carried through on that threat the Moonbeam, who will be 70 in a couple of days, would be 72 on taking office for the second time. Maybe California motorists needs the zany old guy so he can not try to build "freeways" again.

Gov Arnie S is trying, to no avail.
