Tolls begin on SH45 West in Austin TX

Toll collection has begun on the western segment of SH45 in the northwest of Austin TX. SH45 in this area is an east-west route that serves as a radial in conjunction with Loop 1 (a straight north-south road) and I-35.

There's one mainline plaza west of Parmer Lane and four sets of ramp tolls on the new segment of SH45.

Travel had been free since the pike opened to traffic in April.

SH130 segments 3 and 4 in the east of the Austin area are due to open in Sept and Dec meaning that the whole of the Central Texas Turnpike project will be under traffic by the end of the year.

These are probably the last of the major Texas tollroads to open with cash collection. TxDOT is planning all future tollroads with a combination of transponder and video tolling.
