“Somehow, somewhere and sometime soon, a new Potomac River crossing must be built to connect the high-tech, high-population areas of Northern Virginia and suburban Maryland...” So editorialized the WASHINGTON POST (5/18/01 pA30) supporting an approx 20km (12mi) tollroad and river crossing between the I-270 corridor in Montgomery Co Maryland and the Dulles area of northern Virginia. The project is the subject of an unusual FHWA supervised study and will include a broadbrush traffic and revenue forecast. It is one of the most promising toll projects to arise in the past several years. (see www.potomac-crossing.com)
