Orlando is more or less through the difficult conversion from its unique pavement-based Mark IV electronic toll system to a TransCore/Amtech-based system that can be made interoperable with the state’s SunPass system. About 300k of the bumper-mounted tags were swapped out for the windshield-mounted backscatter tags. The conversion was not helped by some 8,000 of the new transponders coming from the manufacturer defective – bad chips.
