Odebrecht-Metric won a $150k bonus for early completion of the $53m Garcon Point toll bridge on Florida’s panhandle two years ago. Seems however one of the fast-track methods they used was to dump some construction debris over the side. Not smart, given the power invested these days in the green-gestapo.

USEPA is after the company for $4m in penalties and cleanup costs, and there is even talk of criminal charges against OM’s construction superintendents.

Needless to say, no one has demonstrated any particular damage to marine life, let alone humans, from the company’s “heave ‘er over” practices. Such an outrage are the environmental laws these days, they don’t have to demonstrate any harm.

But it’s untidy, and these days you just don’t do that kind of thing. (If you do, you make sure you don’t get caught!)
