The state that gave you Spiro Agnew the only Veep to go from that position to jail – for taking roadbuilder bribes while state governor – has just sent half its state assembly (38 legislators) for an all-expenses paid vacation with posh entertainment and lodgings, golf, gulf cruising etc in Biloxi MI courtesy the state retailers association, several prominent lobbyists and a bunch of big companies. State Senator Jennie Forehand (Dem-Montg Co) defended this saying “corporate sponsorship saves the state money.” (WP 8/9 pB1) In other words if they weren’t living it up off companies, they’d be living it up off taxpayers. That’s our backhand.
