Birmingham North Relief

The good news out of the UK is that the country’s first pike in the automobile era, the Birmingham North Relief Road has contracts for construction and expects work to begin shortly. Though it has had many problems which have delayed a start almost 10 years it has avoided political arguments over where the tolls go because it is investor-financed. The Australian-based Macquarie Infrastructure Group has the major equity interest in the 2x3-lane highway around the north side of Britain’s second city.
