Three new interchanges and additional ramps for another five ICs of the Garden State Parkway begin the permitting process shortly. The work estimated to cost $56m is in the southern portion of the parkway in Ocean County around Tom’s River and in Cape May county. All the ramps will have tolls and are designed to generate extra toll revenue, though they are also designed to help local communities by getting traffic off local roads and onto the toll road.

The New Jersey Highway Authority (NJHA) numbers its interchanges by the mileposts from the southern end northward – unlike the Turnpike which numbers them sequentially and then has to add As and Bs to number additional ICs. The GSP ICs to get extra movements are ICs 6, 17 and 20 in Cape May co and ICs 67 and 69 in Ocean co. The new ICs will be at mile-posts 77, 84 and 89.
