Moves in New Hampshire against tolls have followed the Governor’s decision last year not to start tolling on a new spur off the NH Turnpike in Nashua. The people next door in Merrimack are asking why they should have to pay tolls, if the Nashuans get free road. It’s a slippery slope once the politicians start giving concessions!

Illinois remains the big question mark with announcements imminent on the Governor’s plans for the future of the 2m/day tolls system, America’s largest by number of tolls. Two senior officials at the Tollway (ISTHA) have resigned – the director of communications Don O’Toole who says he couldn’t continue a spokesman for the Governor’s stance, and the director of planning & programming Lidia Pilecky

Meanwhile in North Carolina and Missouri, states without any toll roads, there are pro-toll road moves – enabling legislation being in discussion and projects talked about.
