Unfortunately FHWA doesn’t breakdown any of its general highway statistics by toll road vs free road. It is therefore impossible to find, for example fatality rates on toll roads vs free roads or vehicle miles travelled, or the mileage of toll roads in the different states. Connie Bell’s effort is worthwhile but would be much more valuable if instead of being a small isolated piece of statistical collection her work was integrated into overall highway statistics. IBTTA collects statistics but only on its members.
