The John Kilpatrick is presently the Oklahoma Turnpike’s boomer. In its latest quarterly report it says revenues are up 10.4% over the same quarter last year. The Kilpatrick is a northern peripheral road to Oklahoma City and an extension of the Turner Turnpike which comes in from the northeast.

The terrible tornadoes in May cost the Turnpike some $450k in damage, small compared to that of others. Major damage was to a maintenance yard at Stroud.

The Turnpike’s PIKEPASS electronic toll tags outstanding rise to nearly 422k mid-year, an increase of 12.5% over mid-98. The Turnpike attributes much of the continued growth of ET usage to the easier accessibility of e-tags, under its ‘remote locations’ program – the term for licensing small stores to issue tags. These agents are selling tags at a rate of about 36k/yr.
