PAST BLUNDERS
N stands for Normandy so the Societe des Autoroutes Paris-Normandie should have been acronymed as SAPN (TRnl#21 Nov 97) but your blundering clunkhead of an editor managed somehow to make it SAPR (perhaps confusion with SAPRR?) Apologies to SAPN! Only slightly less an atrocity was to misname a UK journal from which we lifted drawings of 915MHz and 5.8GHz radiowaves to enliven the report on the CEN blitzkrieg in Berlin. That journal is TRAFFIC (not Transport) TECHNOLOGY INTERNATIONAL. The editor who pointed out the mistake also says quite correctly that opposition to CEN-278 came from Portugal, not as we miswrote, Spain. As a loyal European he demurred at our characterization of the 5.8Ghz wave as weeny which of course was not a mistake but a carefully crafted trans-atlantic tease.
