PBS&J have won reselection at the Orlando Orange County Expressway Authority (OOCEA) as preferred provider of general engineering consultancy. Their position there for over a decade without rebid of their contract was previously the source of criticism of the OOCEA.
After the scandal-driven ouster of former chairman Allan Keen a number of contracts have been opened up.
The new chairman Rich Crotty pledged to end non-competed renewals of contracts.
When the contract was rebid OOCEA received proposals from PBS&J and Parsons Transportation of Pasadena CA. The proposals do not contain any $-sum, and PBS&J was chosen entirely on expertise and capability. It now remains to negotiate hurly billing rate sand other financial terms, a spokesman told us.
If a satisfactory deal cannot be done with PBS&J the tollster will negotiate with Parsons.
The general engineering contract is for 5 years. The last one was worth about $80m, but the actual amount will depend on rates negotiated plus the workload.
