John Collins is the new president and CEO of ITS America. We reported in the first printing of the last issue (TRnl#26 Apr98 p15) that Tom Downs was selected and was likely to get the job. There was quite a lot to that...but it’s not done until its done. As Jerry Bastarache of ITSA told us: “You really screwed that up.”

He’s right. We apologize for the mistake.

John J. Collins is a veteran Washington DC transportation hand, having spent a number of years at USDOT, then at the American Trucking Association where he was head of a large government relations and PR staff. He has degrees in engineering and law.

I-26 goes southeast through SC

In describing the Greenville SC Southern Connector toll road we wrote of its connection to I-385 and how this leads southeast through the center of the state... You do that by taking I-26 where I-385 merges into it and it is I-26 which goes through the center of SC. (Thanks WSA for the correction.)
