Faneuil Group operator at SunPass wires herself $240k

Sharon Taffe, 38, an operator at the SunPass customer service center attempted to steal $240k by sending her own bank account several huge phony "refunds." She worked for the Faneuil Group which is under contract to Florida's Turnpike to run customer service including maintenance of SunPass electronic toll accounts.

In the criminal case in US District Court for the Southern District of Florida bank records were introduced showing "refund" checks totalling $240k on SunPass wired into Taffe's personal bank account.

The bank account was connected to a SunPass account she had.

She was caught when a Florida Turnpike manager at the center noticed huge refunds credited to one account. She soon admitted to the embezzlement.

Taffe said she was attempting to stave off a foreclosure on her townhouse. She awaits sentencing.
