2013-11-12: Indiana Finance Authority (IFA) today issued the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for an availability payments public private partnership (AP-P3) for financing, building and operating the 12 mile, 19km stretch of the Illiana Expressway on the Indiana side of the border with Illinois. Indiana had an Industry Forum earlier in the year at which the project was discussed, comment made, and questions asked and answered.

2013-11-10: If it wasn’t already in enough trouble the Illiana Expressway project is now complicated by a push to add a rail line to the east-west tollroad project located in tall prairie grass and farmlands south of the fringe of the Chicago metro area. Under federal permitting rules other modes like rail and trails are considered along with the highway in a multi-modal corridor study.

2013-11-08: Illinois DOT has issued the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the procurement of a P3 team to “design, build, finance, operate and maintain” the 35 mile, 57km Illinois portion of the Illiana Expressway project. Indiana Finance Authority is expected to issue its RFQ shortly for the 12 miles, 19km of the expressway in Indiana as the beginning of the procurement of a companion P3.

2013-10-29: The I-5 Columbia River Crossing project is a mega toll project in considerable trouble. Oregon is trying to continue the $2.5 billion project without much active involvement by Washington state on its northside. The state legislature in Washington declined to continue funding its share of project development last summer and the project office, in scaled down form is now solely dependent on Oregon state support.

2013-10-24: Maryland's Inter County Connector saw strong growth in traffic in the spring this year achieving solid 40,000 vehicles/weekday patronage over three of five segments with overall traffic at 187,000/weekday adding transactions in all five segments or 37,000 average weekday numbers per segment. May thru' August the numbers haven't substantially changed, but compared with same-month-a-year-back the traffic is up a solid 20% to 25%.
