Peter Samuel (1940-2004nearly)
By Peter Samuel on August 24, 2004Praise be to modern medicine. I would have died without it last Saturday night. Friday evening I ate some bad food. I suffered an intestinal thunderstorm that night. It got my stomach so roiled up I was unable to keep any liquids down through the next day. I was so weakened Saturday afternoon I couldn't walk properly. Kept falling over. Called 911, an ambulance came, and my blood pressure was found to be 65/45, hardly half normal.
Mountain lion killed on S Calif pike
By Peter Samuel on August 20, 2004A mountain lion was killed when it was hit by a pickup truck on the Foothill Eastern Toll Road (CA241) in the Anaheim Hills about 6am Aug 18, according to AP. The animal, also known as a cougar was a female about 7 years old. She had been fitted with a radio tracking unit about two years ago. There have been many cases of deer killed in traffic accidents on the Foothill but the death of a mountain lion is unusual. The road goes high over hills which were previously wild country. A planned southern extension will have a number of wildlife underpasses to try to reduce such animal deaths.
